The house “Coumenios” The Couserans is a former French province which nowadays is part of the department of the Ariège and is characterized by its space and untouched nature. Moulis is a small village of approx. 800 habitants in the heart of the Couserans at approx. 5 km distance of the capital of the Couserans St. Girons and approx. 120 km south of Toulouse. Our house “Coumenios” is situated in the valley of the Lez river between St. Girons and Moulis in a quiet and rural surrounding. Situated at the foot of the Pyrenees it is an ideal starting point for your hiking holiday in the Mont-Valier massive (books with walks in the area are present in the house). In the nearby neighbourhood you can find numerous cols passes well known from the Tour de France (col de Portet d’Aspet, col de le Trappe, col de Port, col d’Agnes etc.) which can be climbed by bicycle whereas in the Petit Pyrenees various tours for those with less climbing qualities can de made (examples of bicycle tours around Moulis). In Moulis you can find a hang gliding school for courses and Horizonvertical in Luzenac can provide assistance in various mountaineering activities. Day trips to Carcasonne, Toulouse, the Pic du Midi, various caves are possible starting from the house. The various rivers and mountain lakes makes the area very suitable for trout fishing.
The nearest large village, St. Girons, offers of the most essential shopping facilities, a cinema, an outdoor swimming pool (only opened during the summer months), as well as medical facilities.
The house can be rented entirely or by floor. The ground floor apartment is suited for 2 persons and the 1st floor apartment for 8 persons. The whole is surrounded by a big garden of 4500m².
